The Embassy is searching for a Senior FX TD who has experience driving creative solutions in taking shots from start to finish, and bringing ideas to life. They are a communicative team player; not afraid to ask for clarification and collaborate with junior artists. They lead and mentor others and inspire them to grow their skills. They are a resourceful problem-solver who enjoys taking ownership of demanding projects. As a lead FX artist you will be responsible for maintaining a high level overview of the status and quality of your team’s FX progress. You possess expert knowledge of Houdini FX to assist in the entire FX team’s success.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Mentor junior artists and set a positive example for the team. 
• Finalize shots driving existing tools or creating your own solutions, including hero and creature FX to accomplish shot narratives. 
• Meet project milestones and deadlines on time. 
• Collaborate with other artists to share knowledge and techniques. 
• Communicate with other departments to receive feedback and resolve shot issues. 
• Assist members of the FX team to learn and grow their skills to by providing informal feedback, tips and tricks, and encouragement. 
• Assist in planning conversations about the direction of FX while being mindful of the continuity for the entire show/sequence.
• Provide guidance to the rest of the FX team
• Provide some direct supervision and review of team members’ work
• Help assess potential future additions to the FX team

Must Have Qualifications:

• Good communication and interpersonal skills (great attitude goes a very long way)
• Creative high speed problem solving with the resources available
• A strong artistic eye
• We value a wide range of skills in the FX domain from simulations to character FX
• 5+ years of senior FX Artist experience in feature films, tv and/or commercial work
• Experience using and troubleshooting in Houdini
• Strong written and verbal English language skills
• Excellent in proactive problem solving and finding solutions
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment remotely
• The ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work across multiple areas

Nice to Have

• Knowledge/experience in Python language
• Working knowledge of source control systems, PyQt or other GUI toolkit
• Experience in other areas of the visual effects pipeline.
