About You
The Embassy VFX is looking for a Human Resources Generalist! As an independent boutique studio, we are looking for someone to oversee all things Human Resources and Talent Acquisition related. The HR Generalist is responsible for being an all-rounder in regards to human resources and recruiting. A natural relationship builder, working cross sectionally with different departments, and excellent generalist, you will be adept at seeing the big picture, helping steer the future direction of the company and navigating the twists and turns of a small independent visual effects studio.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources
- Forecast and plan for future HR requirements for each fiscal year.
- Maintain current HR policies and procedures; implement new policies as and when required.
- Proactively resolve HR issues and demonstrate innovative thinking by researching, analyzing, and preparing recommendations.
- Assist employees with HR questions or concerns.
- Maintain and update the Embassy’s Employee Handbook’s HR-relevant sections.
- Assist with the administration of group insurance employee benefits and RRSP’s
- Manage and ensure that Embassy is completing all requirements of its Labor Market Benefit Plan
- Be an expert in and manage HRIS (Bamboo HR) system, ensuring accurate and up to date information is maintained
- Onboard and offboard employees
- Manage wage and training subsidies
- Manage compensation and benefits for the company
Recruiting and Retention
- Oversee overall recruitment strategies for attracting and retaining employees
- Work closely with the Production and leadership team to anticipate future workforce needs
Career Development, Training, and Reviews
- Manage long-term career development for artists. Facilitate, prepare, and deliver performance reviews (where applicable).
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the management team.
- Coordinate internal and external Training and Development.
Crew Management/Social Ambassador
- Assist with planning and coordinating the orientation and onboarding of new hires, creating a smooth integration onto their new team.
- Plan, facilitate and coordinate social events
- Provide solutions to ensure that Embassy company culture remains strong and integrated with new Work from Home arrangements.
Must have’s
- 2 + Years’ of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably as an HR Generalist
- Adept at different technologies, including MS Excel/Google Sheets, HRIS and ATS Systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, highly organized and results oriented
- Takes initiative and goes beyond established framework; looks for new ideas and creative solutions to overcome challenges.
- Polite, easy-going, patient and service oriented
Nice to have’s
- Digital media and entertainment experience
- Shotgrid/Flow, or other production management software experience preferred.
- CPHR Designation or working towards it
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or equivalent and relevant experience
- Experience with Bamboo HR

Salary Range: $38.46 - $43.26 per hour (CAD).
This range denotes the minimum and maximum compensation limits for this role within the province of British Columbia, adhering to local legal requirements. It's essential to recognize that the salary range for this position may vary when compared to markets outside of British Columbia, with potential variations in both lower and higher figures. The base pay offered is contingent upon factors including internal equity assessments and elements such as the candidate's geographic location, job-related expertise, skills, experience, and other pertinent qualifications.
